ABOUT ME
I’m Josh, a filmmaker who helps mission-driven brands and nonprofits tell honest, human stories that move people to action. But I didn’t start here.
My first love was light. Growing up surfing the Central California coast, I spent hours watching the ocean shift moods under different skies. Calm. Chaotic. Mysterious. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was learning to see.
Years later, while studying abroad in Israel, I picked up a camera for the first time—just to document the trip. That was it. I was hooked. I spent the rest of college chasing moments, teaching myself how to translate the image in my mind into something real.
For nearly two decades, I worked as a commercial photographer—helping brands visually express their message. But again and again, I saw something missing: the story behind the images often got lost. Clients had great photos, but the emotional thread, the why, never quite made it into the final message.
Then in 2022, I took on my first video project—reluctantly. It was for an internal corporate piece, and honestly, I didn’t expect to care much. But as I sat across from someone and heard their story unfold, something clicked. I realized: this is what I’ve been chasing all along. Not just visuals. Not just campaigns. But connection.
Since then, I’ve focused on telling short-form, documentary-style stories for people and organizations doing meaningful work. I help translate data into emotion, values into visuals, and abstract impact into something deeply human.
Now, I live outside Boulder, Colorado with my wife, our boys, and a couple of dogs. I bring 20 years of experience—from photojournalism to brand strategy—to every project I take on. Whether you're a nonprofit trying to communicate your mission, or a brand looking to deepen connection with your audience, I’m here to help you tell the story that truly reflects your heart.
Everyone has a story worth sharing.
We are all storytellers—it's woven into the fabric of our humanity. As a filmmaker, I honor this tradition by bringing stories to life—of people, their pain, their triumphs—each one uniquely its own. Yet every story, no matter how different, holds a truth worth sharing. What's yours?
