I have always loved public speaking. I know, I know. I am crazy.
Who says that? Don't worry, there are plenty of other things that terrify me. Rejection and failure probably being the ones I wrestle with the most.
But public speaking, it's just different. Give me an audience and a topic I am passionate about and I come alive. My creativity goes into hyperdrive. And yet, while I was in school, I never envisioned myself as a creative. In fact, I thought I was the polar opposite. To me, public speaking was different. It was just a skill.
But then I learned a new language, a way of speaking with my heart and mind. It began in Israel in 2002. Photography that is. It wasn't a passion or desire. It wasn't even a thought really. I simply wanted to document my experience. Five months later, a well-used digital Olympus in hand and a new vintage Twin-reflex Flexaret slung over my shoulder, I was hooked.
Fast forward 20 years to 2022. I am finally launching my photography career full-time. It's been a long process (painful at times and exhilarating at others). I have finally come to accept that I am a creative and that I can speak with the lens of my camera.
